Nipple Reduction

Nipple reduction is a relatively quick and safe surgical procedure to reduce the height, and/or diameter of the nipple, creating a more balanced proportion between the nipple and areola. This allows for a smaller nipple size, with minimal scarring. This surgery can be performed on both men and women who are not happy with the size of their nipples.

Do you experience these issues?

✅ Stretched and enlarged nipples as a result of breastfeeding and weight loss
✅ Feel embarrassed that your nipples are aesthetically unpleasing because they lack symmetry
✅ In search of a lasting solution for more youthful breasts and nipples

Solution

Nipple reduction surgical procedure is considered to be safe and less invasive than most types of plastic surgery with a low rate of complications.

This surgery is relatively quick and will only take about an hour or so. First of all, local anesthesia will be administered. Then, an incision is made in the nipple or around the areola. Excess skin will be dissected and removed. Sutures will be placed to attach the nipple to the base, reducing the height or reshaping the tissue. A bandage will be placed to press down and stabilise the new nipple and to absorb any blood oozing.

Nipple reduction surgery can be paired with other breast procedures including:

  • Breast implants: To enhance the shape of the entire breast including the nipple, making it look perkier.
  • Breast lift: For those who have saggy breasts and enlarged nipples as a result from pregnancy and breastfeeding.
  • Breast reduction: Commonly, women who have disproportionately large breasts also have large nipples.

Recovery

It is always best to have someone to help you during the initial recovery period. The swelling and bruising should recover within a couple of weeks and if one breast heals faster than the other, this is completely normal. Taking time off work is not necessary but you’ll experience some tenderness and discomfort. During this recovery period, our surgeon may recommend wearing a surgical bra to protect the nipples.
