Dimpleplasty

A surgical procedure to create dimples on the cheeks, dimpleplasty has been all the rage in recent years due to the significance of dimples as a sign of beauty, good luck and fortune.

Characterised as indentations at the bottom of the cheek area that occur most prominently when some people smile, dimples help create definition to a smile and increase the appeal of attractive characteristics to your overall facial expression. Some people may also have chin dimples.

Solution

Upon determining the ideal placement for dimple creation, our surgeon will apply a topical anesthetic to the area of the skin to ensure zero pain or discomfort during the procedure. Using a biopsy instrument, the surgeon will carefully create an indent in the skin for the formation of the dimple. A small amount of muscle and fat is removed to aid in this creation. Once the space for the future dimple has been created, a suture will be placed and tied from one side of the cheek muscle to the other to set the dimple permanently in place.

Recovery

As this is a minor procedure, patients can usually go home/work immediately after the surgery. Some mild swelling may occur, but this can be countered by placing cold packs on the affected area. In the initial stage, dimple may be present with or without smile. When the scars inside have softened, the natural dimple will fully form in about 3 months time.
